Bulloch County Breaks Ground on First Coroner’s Office

Bulloch County is planning on improving its coroner services as they plan to build the county’s first-ever dedicated coroner’s office.

The County officially broke ground on the 2,800-square-foot facility, which will be located on Randy Lowery Road. Bulloch County’s Coroner, Chuck Francis, will now have a dedicated place to perform his work.

Until now, Francis has had to rely on available facilities, including the morgue at the Statesboro Hospital.

“We have always just kind of had to make do with whatever venue we had. The hospital has a morgue. I’ve had to use their facilities in the past,” Francis said.

The office is planned to help give Francis a permanent location to perform his services, while also improving the experiences for families during difficult times.

The office is currently hopeful to open by March or April 2027, depending on the construction time. Once completed, the office will mark a significant change for Bullich County as it gives the county a permanent resource for serving its residents.
