James Madison Dukes set to move to the American Conference

James Madison University’s football team made history this past Saturday night, defeating Georgia Southern on Southern’s home field for the first time.

Before Saturday’s game, the James Madison Dukes were 0-6 at Paulson Stadium, making their 27-24 win the Dukes’ last unaccomplished feat in the Sun Belt.

Just two days after their win, the Dukes announced they would be leaving the Sun Belt and joining the American Conference no later than July 1st, 2028.

This move will also have implications for the Sun Belt, as they will face adjustments due to the departure.

The move represents a significant shift for James Madison as they prepare for a new chapter in its athletic future.

For Georgia Southern, the loss brings their conference record to 1-1 as they are set to face Old Dominion on the road this Thursday night.
