Splash in the Boro is bringing Halloween scares back to Statesboro with the return of its Haunted River attraction.
The water park’s lazy river has been drained and transformed into a haunted attraction for community members and their families. Employees dress in costumes and scare visitors as they walk through a decorated tunnel.
Some employees take the scares a step further by chasing visitors with a chainsaw.
Head lifeguard Alexis Merrit said one of her favorite parts of the event is seeing high school students experience the attraction.
“I think I like seeing when all the high schoolers come through because then they get really excited because it’s just something that you don’t really see every day,” Merrit said.
The Haunted River began Monday, Oct. 19, and runs through Sunday, Oct. 25. The event is open from 9 to 11 p.m., and admission is $10 per person at the Splash in the Boro Aquatics Center.
The attraction will reopen for one additional night Oct. 30, from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. The water park is staying open an additional two hours to remain open the early morning of Halloween.
With costumed employees, spooky decorations and chainsaw-wielding scare actors, the Haunted River offers visitors a Halloween-themed experience in Statesboro.
