Economic Pressure on Pet Owners Leaves Animals struggling to Receive Care

Inflation not only impacts us, but our furry four-legged friends as well. With the U.S. entering a recession, pets are even feeling the weight of the economic pressure.

In Statesboro, Rylin Ciavarella decided to start a GoFundMe page for his German Shepards surgery. Penny, the German Shepard puppy, has to undergo orthopedic surgery that will cost over $2,000.

Members of the community saw the need and helped Rylin and Penny get halfway to their goal.

While the economic burden is weighing on pet owners, Statesboro has resources to help.

Fixing the Boro is a nonprofit organization for animals in the Statesboro and Bulloch County area. They have been able to rescue 455 animals and perform 6,788 spay/ neuter procedures.

This organization has done its best to help animals and their owners receive costly procedures by giving out vouchers for spay/ neuter services.

There are numerous opportunities to help and serve these animals through Fixing the Boro. You can donate, volunteer, or adopt. Their website has a list of resources and information.
