Bulloch County Schools Implement Clear Bag Policy at Athletic Events

Bulloch County Schools implemented a clear bag policy Oct. 26 for all high school athletic events to increase security at sporting venues.

Under the new policy, spectators who bring non-clear bags must ensure they meet the size requirements of 6.5 inches long and 4.5 inches tall. All bags are subject upon entry.

Spectators who refuse to have their bags searched will not be allowed into the stadium. The policy includes exceptions for bags required for medical reasons and equipment needed by law enforcement officers or members of the media. However, these items may still be subject to inspection.

Media members are also required to follow the clear bag policy. Those covering athletic events must obtain the proper credentials and remain in designated media areas.

The policy applies to more than just outdoor sporting events. School gyms are also included, meaning students and spectators must follow the same requirements when attending athletic events indoors.

The clear bag policy is intended to strengthen security measures at school sporting events while establishing consistent guidelines for everyone entering athletic facilities.

Students, families and other spectators attending high school games should review the requirements before arriving to avoid delays at the entrance or being denied entry because of a bag that does not meet the policy’s standards.

With the policy now in effect, Bulloch County Schools is requiring students, spectators and media members to follow the guidelines at both stadiums and gyms during high school athletic events.
