Hundreds of families made their way to Georgia Southern’s Greek Row for the university’s annual Trick or Treat on Greek Street.
Sororities and fraternities along Olympic Boulevard decorated their houses and welcomed children and families from the Statesboro community for an evening of Halloween activities.
Georgia Southern students dressed in costumes to match the themes of their houses while handing out candy and hosting activities for children.
Throughout the evening, families walked up and down Greek Row taking part in games, haunted houses, face painting and other activities.
Georgia Southern student Tyler Phillips, a member of Zeta Phi Beta, said the annual event also provides an opportunity for the university and surrounding community to come together.
“I think Trick or Treat on Greek Street, one, it’s really cute seeing all the kids in their costumes,” Phillips said. “And I think it’s a great way to bridge a gap between Georgia Southern University and the Statesboro community and kind of show our connectedness in a way.”
Trick or Treat on Greek Street has become an annual Halloween tradition for families in Statesboro, while also giving members of Georgia Southern’s fraternity and sorority community an opportunity to interact with local residents.
Georgia Southern’s Fraternity and Sorority Life hopes to continue the tradition in future years.
